As I see it, the traditional sales methodology is losing steam. Meanwhile, a new way of selling is taking shape slowly. This can largely be attributed to the new consumer behavior.

The forward-looking mentor has the ability to streamline the "good" of traditional methods into a framework of sales methodology that matches the new norm with experience and adaptability to the changing environment.

Mentorship is not an exact science, and the art of mentoring is not straightforward either. You must dedicate time and effort to building the required skills-set to become one.

Known Hock Beng for many years. First met him was in my office as we are hosting a seminar. Back then he just started in Financial Alliance and what took me as a surprise was his passion for this business and how he envisions himself embarking on his new journey in his newly joined company. Almost considering starting from scratch again from his previous company, his vision came true and he is now leading one of the biggest and most successful branches in Financial Alliance. Over the years of friendship, he gave me much valuable advice and what inspires me most is that even though he is considered a veteran in his field of financial management work, he is constantly seeking new knowledge and constantly sharing his knowledge with others. Working in an environment of managing people’s money and managing people who are managing people’s money, it is important to find a trustworthy and ethical person. But how can one simply know? One way I learned is to look at what a person is doing during nonwork hours. I am fortunate to know Hock Beng long enough to know personally that he is a loving husband, a very responsible father, and also a devoted Buddhist. With that said of a man, nothing much I can doubt in terms of his professional practice.

I have known Hock Beng for more than 10 years when he was among the first few pioneer batches of participants who attended my workshop. He is humble, very personable, outstanding, sharp and an avid learner. I was not surprised to witness the great successes he has achieved not only in building and leading a great team of advisers but also to serve selflessly & contribute immensely to the financial advisory community. A servant leader, mentor, coach & trainer to look up to!

He has been doing very well to build his few-man team a few years ago to one of the largest teams in the company. He is very competent and knowledgeable in financial & wealth planning and strong in using technology to make life easy for his consultants and clients.
